Learning Type
Learning types are the ways by which a person learns to focus on, process, absorb, and hold on to innovative and complex information. Learning types, one of the most important tools by which we construct knowledge. Each one of us learns in our own way, which is inherent, but without knowing our preferences, we can’t learn efficiently and properly.
Cognitive
Cognitive learners are strongly objective and always have their own opinions. They are motivated to learn or work with something they are interested in. Goal oriented and has high self expectations and will power. Do not easily agree with the theory unless reasonable explanations and evidences are given. Always curious and love to know about their work or study. They prefer to receive instructions through communication and initiate to learn and take it seriously.
Imitative
Imitative learners learn whatever whether good or bad and can get easily affected and influenced by what peers would say and the environment. They like to live in harmony with each other and like humanistic management. Imitative learners value the process of learning and working and are good at imitating. When they are learning a new thing, they keep on asking questions about it and keep practicing them again and again. The more familiar or known environment they live in, the better their performance is. It is easy for them to become professionals in a field, if they start at an early stage.
Reverse
Reverse thinkers think in a reverse manner or in an orthodox way (e.g. When they are reading a book, they check the end first and then think about the plot first without even reading it). Driven by interest, they like to ask questions and giving answers. Reverse thinkers have a unique thinking style and are often mistaken as rebellious or weird. They should be respected in their respective thinking attributes and encouraged to use reverse thinking in creative analysis, creative art, research or invention.
Open
Open learners are like a sponge, open to anything and absorb whatever is being taught. They are ignorant about things they have never seen or done. They are tolerant to everyone and everything and moldable with many personalities. If received a good education, they can become successful professionals. They can learn new things and new concepts diversely to nurture their multidisciplinary thinking ability and become an integrated expert with varying specialties. Continuous encouragement is their key to success.
